Re: evinrude 60 2 stroke

First off, thanks for your reply.
Here are some more symptoms
Had a friend charge the battery. Then I had the motor fire up and idle just fine.
When you put the prop in gear the motor struggles then dies out.
Took out the plugs and they're black and slightly oily.
I wonder what could be the issue?
Why can the motor idle but not handle the load of the lower unit?
didn't seem to see much of a fuel filter or bowl. Just some little screen that was perfectly free of debris.

Re: evinrude 60 2 stroke

Could be two things:
When shifting, a single solenoid draws about 1.5 - 2A current in neutral, in reverse, two solenoids actuated, 3 - 4A current draw. Your battery might not be up to it. Measure the +12V on the CD ignition module, if it is fully there and is not diminished.
The other (more probable) cause could be misadjusted/dirty carbs. This is the time when you would need a manual to clean and adjust the carburetors.

must be fuel supply/quality related. I limped back to the ramp today with the carbs half choked. Misfiring quite a bit.
Maybe inspect fuel lines, new plugs and some carb cleaner will do it.

I am also now thinking it could be just the throttle cable got knocked out of adjustment where it anchors on the motor. That would be the simplest of all.
