Hi,

Im hoping somebody can help me.
I have bought an Jofa Kuling with an Evinrude 50hp VRO 1998. The problem I have is that the engine is impossible to tilt up from within the boat and with great effort when standing behind the boat.
It has a manual tilt, so no tilt engine of any kind. The "help cylinder" does not have a wire connected to it or anything.
I took the cylinder off to rule it out but no real difference. What could be the cause of this tiltissue?
I put new grease everywhere but suspect there could be something with the "rod" the engine is tilted around? Are there any ballbearings there?

I also have a Mercury 85hp which I tilt manually with no problem on another boat...

Desperate need of help...

That tilt cyl you took off is probably shot. That part is called the tilt aid cyl. It is a gas spring that helps you lift the motor. It is rediculously expensive. You might wanto go to a aftermarket trim and tilt unit.

Ha ha thanks guys feels a lot better now :p

I tried squirting grease in the "greasenipples" and that made it a little better.
Still ridiculously hard to tilt but at least doable :)
