evinrude 33hp year??.breaker points..when should open,close

HI folks....<br />i have a evinrude Model 25D 19B.<br />how to adjust the break-points when the motor is in start mode.for how it´s only fire one turn at the moment.And if someboby knows what year the engine is.Please tell me =)

Sebbbe..... Double check that model number, something's not right there.<br /><br />Turn the crankshaft until the flywheel key lines up with the rubbing fiber of the points. Set the points at that position so that a .020 slides through but that a .022 will not. Then do the same with the other set of points... flywheel key, fiber etc. That's it.

Sebbbe..... Evinrude manufactured a 33hp from 1965 to 1970, the model numbers of which all start out with the hp rating of 33.<br /><br />Johnson also manufactured the 33hp from 1965 to 1970 but none of them had a model number that started out with 25D 19B.<br /><br />I have no idea what engine you have but it's not a 1962 as that year a 28hp was manufactured by OMC.

it´s absolute not an 62 engine.the design can tell that.I have an extra engine for reserv parts<br />and the model and serial are Model RXEL-14d,Serial JZ626346. and "33hp at 4500rpm Jhonson manufacture" ar written on it an dthe engine i try to start ar almoust the same but not whit elektric start.the year schuld be around 80 i think.anyway it still wont start.schuld the breakpoint close exakt in the moment the pistons are out or right before or after it turns?? i cant figure it out therefore the ignitionplate are turning when i turning the gas.

The ignition plate is supposed to turn when you advance the gas. This varies the timing with motor speed. Your points, when set at the proper gap (as per Joe's instructions) are self timing and synchronized to the carburetor...<br />- Scott

Sebbbe.... That engine is a 1966 33hp Johnson, not an evinrude. Set the points as I instructed and don't be concerned about when they close.

In case this is where some of the confusion is coming from, the spark happens when the points open. And what Joe said..
