I have a 1990 Evinrude E40TTLES that runs good, I took it off a stand, laid it down gently and then my Son & I lifted it manually and put it on a new stand.
Now, the starter button on the outboard won't work, it makes just a single click when engaged. The battery is fully charged, trim & tilt works fine, battery connections are tight, red stop switch is clipped in the run postion, its in neutral and I can jump from a battery to the starter and it enages and turns over.
It just will not turn over from the starter button which worked fine just before it's move.
The cowling was off during its move so I'm guessing something became disconnected; but the big question is what and where to look?
I certainly appreciate if any of you good Captains have some guidance on this one? Thanks,

Make sure the negative cable from the battery has a clean tight ground in the motor cowl.

Check your wiring from the starter button to the solenoid to the neutral start switch.
