as stated in the subject i have a 1989 v6 200hp evinrude engine. I am having troubles taking the lower part off. I have taken all the screws out and it comes down very little. I think the shift rob is holding it all together. How do i go about removing the shift rob to allow me to take off the bottom end entirely? I am pretty new to this so Thanks

I'm pretty sure your model has the screw or pin at the top of the shift rod under the carbs. Remove it and shift reverse-forward to free it.

{Keep a couple of the lower unit bolts in a little so it will not fall on your foot.)

its easier to sea & get to if you remove the lower cowling.
