I have a chance to pickup a 61 Johnson with a seized powerhead for about $50. I have two 1955/56 Evinrude 15 powerheads. Since these were the forerunners of the 18 I was wondering if I should pick up the motor and do a powerhead swap. Any ideas as to why it will or will not work? thanks

Many changes between those models. Including the powerhead base pattern.

$50 sounds like it would be a fun project to try and get going or see what happened to it.

For $50 I'd buy it. If it's really stuck, part it out and you'll more than recover your investment. If it's electric start, you can get over $100 just for the starter and bracket. Then there's the carb, lower unit, flywheel, etc. etc.
