Hi
Just wanted to share what I found during disassembly. The motor did not run on the bottom cylinder and I could not understand why. Good spark, good compression and fuel. Should run perfect.

Finally I took it apart and found this little bugger stuck in the reed. Luckily it stayed there and grinded the reed plate.
Enjoy.

Well that is an interesting find. Wonder how long it was there? :noidea:

I can't tell you how many times I have found a carb cover bolt back in the reeds. Hope you replaced that gasket in the carb.

A high speed nozzle gasket..... Hmmm, wonder where this goes? Oh, I'll just throw it down the carburetor throat and let it find its own way! :)

Actually looks like a metal fastener clip that holds the plastic bits to the cowling.

Yeah... on second look, a closer look, that's exactly what it looks like. Damn!... now another cause to keep in mind for a lousy idle etc... checking hood applique retaining clips. :)

Yea it does look like a speed washer/nut used to hold plastic parts on. Odd being in there though. :decision:

Some great suggestions where it came from. Well, there may have been some fiddling with the starter pawl, the red plastic thing near the flywheel and starter and it fell of. There might be a washer in there... The engine was used during fishing so it was carried and turned around. Maybe that was the time it found its way in the silencer, I?m quite sure.

Great motor, I will fix.

No Title

Just so happens I'm tuning a 1980 E10CID today and had a look under the hood. There are 6 of those clips holding the front and rear badges on the hood - you missing any?

I have no idea why this one has red tape covering part of the air intake slots...
