Recently got pink slip at work so found some time boat.Ive had it since 2000 and it’s always be strong motor. I put kit in carb when I got it.
this time out it lost its prime at a bad time I shot the rapids a bit. I also noticed more rough idle than I remember but not too bad to use.
I Took a kick at it and noticed fuel hose was rotted right where it hooks to carb as well as clamp was missing.W took carb apart and ordered a OMC kit. I noticed I had a bad part in bowl inside of float.Its called a Nozzle Well part #036605.Obsolete part but thought I found one at Dusky Marine.Order went through but after waiting 2 weeks found out it was never in stock and Dusky online parts isn’t updated to this fact,I’ll never try that place again no message of any type to tell me it’s not coming.This little plastic chamber has main jet in it as well as a little 1” idle hose attached to carb body.I decided try with one I have tried to melt little crack with soldering iron with poor results.After getting it all together tested in barrel and fished 3 days with it in river.It dosen’t Loose it’s prime now with new feel line and runs strong.
it does idle smooth enough to troll if not perfect, but at mid-range not smooth at all.
It will go right into high speed jet without any problem,but is stumbling a bit At midrange.
Im assuming this is nozzle well but many google search’ only brings up LeRoy mentioning it as a “Nylon Chamber”.

I know uneaven compression can cause rough idle.Recent check showed 100psi in bottom cylinder 78 in top.When I checked it years ago it was 120 in both.A squirt of oil in spark plug hole brought it up to 116psi so I know I’m showing some wear.It still makes 21mph in my 1543 Tracker Jon even with its 17” transom.Planes easily
