Pulled the boat from the marina for the winter. Did what my local boat shop said to do. Now I have a cracked lower case. oopsie...

1. When I bought the boat a couple of years ago, I was told the motor was a 1978. How do I verify that? I can find cases for 1979 up, but haven't found one for a 78.

2. I have been told there is some parts interchangeability on these motors. Can someone tell me it there is another case that would also fit? Maybe off a 70, or 85?

Thanks in advance,

Norm

Re: Evinrude 115 questions

You need a gearcase from another V4 to get the same gear ratio.

You need the driveshaft to be the same length.

You can swap the shift rods.

The model number of your motor should be on a 1" X 3" aluminum plate on the port transom bracket. Failing that, the numbers will be on a nickel sized convex aluminum welch plug on the top of the starboard cylinder bank.
