Evinrude 115 bubble back 1995 crossflow

How difficult is it to change the termostats.
looks easy to take out but very tight quarters to get back in.
Can I remove the bubble back to make more room for myself?

Removing the bubbleback will help, at the risk of breaking some bolts... I've replaced some by using zip-ties to hold the works together until I get the bolts started, then cut the zip tie to remove and then tighten down the bolts...

There were a couple of posts on here where the poster cut about 8" out of the lower cowl to get at the thermos. He then made some aluminum plates and put them on the inside and attached with nuts and bolts. Looked pretty good when done.
