I have an older evinrude side mount control and the ignition broke off, I'm sure it was due to old age. However, I was wondering if I could purchase a replacement ignition or would I need to purchase a new side mount control. I would really prefer that I was able to replace the ignition vs buying a new side mount control. Does anyone have any suggestions or creative ways to replace the ignition? Right now, I have to start my boat with a screwdriver
. (Don't worry it's my boat!) The side mount control operates a 1975 johnson/evinrude 115hp outboard model# 85593E, if that helps any. This is my first boat and I now realize owning a boat is like throwing money into a hole, so far I replace the helm, steering cable, and two ignition packs.
