I don't watch televised news, not even local news.. It's all so opinionated that I just don't care to hear it. I prefer to get my news online from sources like reuters and the bbc, then form my own opinions.

I do enjoy watching John Stewart when I actually have control of the remote. :)

This might sound a little crazy but I can understand a little bit of spanish and I often wonder why Telemundo runs stories 4 or 5 days before I see them on an English speaking channel.

One of the few voices of reason, Juan Williams got fired from NPR for voicing his personal opinion and concerns on the O'Reilly show.
It seems to me that the first amendment is all well and good just as long as it is not exercised, these so called left wing wackos aren't any different from those so called right wing wackos.

Unfortunately, its gone from "news", to "news drama" and now "news to keep you glued to the boob-tube". Is it really "news" if they talk about it all day long?

I get my brief news from BBC on satellite ( which covers major US news stories pretty well) and iphone apps, quick and to the point..

The time I spend NOT watching the news marathons, on CNN,FOX,ABC,NBC,CBS, I can actually try to have a life. ;)

Well, all you NPR fans need to reconsider after today. Juan Williams is probably one of the nicest and smartest guts on TV

National Public Radio is mostly financed by USA taxpayer dollars. The federal government has no business 'censoring'...firing a good honest man like Juan Williams, for stating his views outside of his NPR on-air duties. This is all political because of Mr.Williams affiliation with Fox.NPR should no longer be funded using taxpayer dollars. Its corrupt.

My mother used to say "you danced with who brought you."

I guess now it is "you dance to the tune of who bought you."

And FOX extended his contract and gave him a raise. I disagree with about every liberal thing Juan says, but it's deplorable the way NPR let him go.

NPR needs to lose government funding (which won't make a dent, but I'll feel better).

I'll stick to FNC for "Fair and Balanced". Juan is hosting Bill's show tomorrow night.

Step out side your comfort zone!!
If you really want the perspective of what is going on in your country, but do not have any faith with the people that are delivering it, except for the Aussie/Murdock owned FNC.
Grow some grey matter between your ear's lad.

IT IS ALL BS, for the most part.

They're job is to get you wound up.
Anyone can quote scripture/news, but it is their squiwe that takes away the actual truth, and bends it to their liking.

Funny, I haven't been called "lad" in 40-some years.:D
Thanks!

I'll check with the VA to see how I can get that "grey matter" back.
That's got to be worth another 20% of disability.:D

And this thread dies in 3...2...1......

I'm watching the replay of Glenn Beck's show. Not news by any stretch. Great commentary, though.

This road to national self destruction is indeed mind boggling, i have some difficulty in fully understanding the egotistical mindset of those, who in pursuit of their grandiose ambition of wealth and power, betray their country by bashing the pendulum to the left and to the right.
This brings to mind an old proverb which said, never to use an axe to swat a fly from your friend's face.

I can't believe this one is not yet locked...

I recall an old history professor I once had, and I often visited him in his office to discuss his class...I noticed a wastebasket in his office that was full of torn out pages of the latest history text he was reading.

I asked him if he didn't like the book he was reading, and he told me No No! Thast's not it. He told me he reads a new different text every sememester, and then destroys them so as never to read the same text again.

He told me his goal was to read as many differents texts as possible, from as many points of view as possible. His goal was always an attempt to approximate WHAT REALLY HAPPENED!

I was under the impression that NPR was publicly funded but that's not completely true. Here's a Wikipedia article (use your own judgement) that says that only 16% comes from public funds. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Public_Radio

Edit: Politically charged - QC
