Sometimes I wish that NPR had a 24 hour TV station.

I wouldn't mind if we all were a little more informed and less opinionated, but that is just my opinion :p

I listen to NPR a good bit lately. Not just news but other programming too. Just not a big fan of the classical music during the day.

NPR is one of the few places you can get the news, not where you get what people think about the news.

They'll all the same, you only get the news they agree with.

I get my news from the daily show... I feel smarter + I laugh my butt off every time I watch it. Only the daily show can make everything "feel good news".

Lately I've been recording BBC World News in the early morning, then watch it while I'm having coffee after I get up. It's a very different perspective, but enjoyable. The formatting is different than typical American news... takes a little getting used to.

Less opinionated on NRP ? Oh please.

Much of it is interesting, but just as opinionated/slanted/one-sided as any of the others.

Ya, it's all opinionated. That's why you have to listen/watch a BUNCH of them and make up your own opinion. Even the ones you might not agree with can give you an insight into the way the other side thinks at least.

Anything else and you're just being used.

It gets real tiring to watch a bunch of Blowhards get super wealthy at spewing out distortions, innuendos and biased speculative commentary.

The Jim Lehrer News Hour is the only real news broadcast left in the USA.

I am not the least opinionated. ;)

They all should be called VIEWS not NEWS programs.

My wife and I plan to attend the big rally here in DC with Daily and Colbert next Saturday.

i hear ya.....

i'm skeptical of any news that has an ad for some product more so than they have time to give me the views... cnn is terrible at ramming advertising down my throat....

you can bet dollars to donuts that the advertiser views (or at least supporters of the views) are more prevalent than the views they disagree with.

the almighty dollar wins again.. everything we encounter these days seems to have some agenda to me.. i don't like that either.

I channel flip between them all. Sad to ridiculous across the board. Occasionally there is an interesting guest, but the talking heads drown them out with their drivel.

....you've got to be kidding.

BP:cool:

Well, when they talk about governmental issues(trying to choose my words carefully:)), they usually have someone from each side give an opinion..... Hence, fair and balanced.... Even so, they do pick which side of the fence they want to be.... There's no media out there that sits on the fence.....

This from a 2005 UCLA study:

Five news outlets ? "NewsHour With Jim Lehrer," ABC's "Good Morning America," CNN's "NewsNight With Aaron Brown," Fox News' "Special Report With Brit Hume" and the Drudge Report ? were in a statistical dead heat in the race for the most centrist news outlet. Of the print media, USA Today was the most centrist.

Five years old, but still noteworthy. It would be hard to call UCLA conservative.

What I find interesting is that story selection alone results in bias. NPR is not exempt from someone deciding which stories have value and which do not. How can anyone suggest that the selection process does not result in bias? I guarantee if I was selecting the stories, no matter how committed I was to neutrality, that some level of bias would ultimately be evident . . .

Despite my contribution appearing as a contradiction, let's be careful with this one guys or it will be gone . . . ;)

I am glad they got rid of that Rick idiot. Put a pretty lady in his place. But I swear she is trying to act Rick. Especially with her eye movements and delivery. Much of it has turned in National Enquirer type stuff with RicK and now her. The fact is most news shows are National Enquirer flavored. Fast moving crap that we don't really need to know.
The weather Channel is off showing us a Typhoon in Asia like we give a Dayum. They are desperate for a storm anywhere since no Hurricanes hit the USA..
Very frustrating..

The media is just for my entertainment. My wife tells me everything I need to know.
