Evenrude 40 HP

Hi all
I am new to all this and althought been on and out on many boats they where always owned by others. I have an Evinrude 40HP outbourd model number 403050 could anyone tell me if this is a 4 stroke or 2 stroke if a 2 stroke what should the mix be. Thank you all so much for any help you give.

Not sure but there seems to be one too many numbers. Closest thing I could find was a 40305 which would be a 1973 two stroke.

Welcome to iboats, 40305 is a 1973, 40hp 2 stroke, fuel/oil mix is 50/1 6gallons of gas to 1 pint of tcw3 outboard motor oil. walmart brand is fine. if you just got the motor and do not know when the impeller/water pump was last serviced, do it or have it done. you don't want to burn up the motor on the first run. also clik on the engine faq forum. and read awakening a sleeping outboard.
