I have a 1988 Bayliner 2556 with a 5.7 (350) OMC. The outdrive is new as well as the cables. I have spent countless hours getting everything adjusted just so. Every once in a while when I attempt to shift out of gear the ESA does nothing. When this happens I can manually move the interupter lever and nothing happens. I went so far as to remove the overstroke cams just to be sure that wasn't hanging up. I also have the Pertronix Ignitor II with the coil. I have performed the "diode fix" and it works very well. When the system works it is like butter. The problem is that everytime I have an ohmeter ready to check the switch it doesn't screw up. Which brings me to the best guess, switch or module?
I once read a post about completely eliminating the ESA by hooking the interupter to ground and the negative side of the coil, any comments?
MY Pertronix is still hooked to the resistance wire although I have ready posts about giving it direct 12volts, again any comments?
