Epoxy PLus vs Gluvit

I am just looking for some opinions. I have ordered gluvit for my boat 1 quart for a 16ft boat. I have been thinking it may just be enough. Just out of curiosity the other day I spread some epoxy plus 50/50 on some aluminum in the transom area of my boat when I was coating the transom boards. I was wire wheeling the area today prepping for gluvit and I noticed how well the epoxy plus had bonded to the boat. At about 1/2 the price as Gluvit I was thinking if I did not have enough gluvit I may just order some more epoxy plus. It does not mention sealing rivets as even something it can be used for but after seeing how well it bonded and knowing how flexible it is I imagine it would do a good job at sealing rivets and seams. It does mention that it can be used on various metals. I know it is not uv protected but it would be used in places that would not see sunlight. Any comments would be great.

One 2 lb can of gluvit will do any aluminum hull up to about 22' if you are running out??? something is wrong.

Try whatever you would like......... just remember, if a problem arises your decking will have to be removed and you will be starting from scratch. Any epoxy will adhere to aluminum however, gluvit was designed and proven to work. I have never heard of a gluvit failure.

Re: Epoxy PLus vs Gluvit

I have never applied Gluvit and I was not sure how much it would take to do my boat. My order comes tommorow. I am glad to hear that a quart is enough for a 22' boat. I have heard others say a quart was just enough for a 16ft boat. I was just impressed with what I saw with the epoxy plus and was considering my back up plan. I have just found that when a product fills a niche it can become very overpriced. But if a quart will do it and it works its worth every penny..

Use is lightly and only do one side at a time. It will flow and creep for hours so you do one side with the hull tipped then the other side another day. A light brushing around the rivet heads and a thin line along the seams.

I tilted my hull on on one side (slightly) did that side and the same for the other side another day. Mix only a little at a time.
