I have a 30HP Rude (early '90s) that when running in a tub, with water 2" above the cavitation plate, does not have a water stream out of the tell-tail. All that comes out is a small mist of water. When I use muffs I get a steady "pee stream".

I replaced the impeller and the key is in place with the water pipe seated in the pump housing. I thought I should have a "pee stream" when using the tub, which is why I replaced the impeller, but nothing has changed???.

It is hard to test the effectiveness of an impeller on muffs since the pressure from the hose forces the water past the water pump. Are you sure the water pump is fully submerged beneath the water line when testing?

I would say that the water level is at the top of the pump housing.

Are you restricted due to the size of the barrel that you are using?

If the water level is only 2 inches above the cavitation plate, not enough hydrostatic pressure is getting water to your water pump. Put it in a barrel much deeper and I'll bet you'll have no problem. Just my opinion,

Exactly my thoughts JBJ. These little fold up buckets are quite handy, plus you can use them to hold ice and beer when not in use. ;)

Hightrim,
I've seen those barrels before on your post....Those things are neat! What store do you get those at? I've never seen one around here.. I live in Louisiana quite a ways from you....Are you Canadians hoarding all the good stuff?????:)

Saw it on ebay and thought it was handy, being able to flatten out to store. We dont have much room in our igloos for large buckets you know! ;) Have to make room for the dog sled team at night. lol

I did raise the tub up as high as it could go, but I could try to get a bigger tub......or back it into the lake????

Re: Envirude 30hp tell-tale mist

One more stupid question about that thing---is it pretty tough or can I break it?
Keep in mind that when it comes to breaking stuff, I'm about on a 7yr. old level...I may have to get myself one of those! HANDY! .BTW, the daytime high temp. here will be about 80 this weekend. I might have to come your direction if I expect to have a decent duck hunt.:(
Stay warm in your igloo!;)

Testing on the lake is ideal, if you are planning on just backing your trailer down the ramp to test, you will have to be careful, that is frowned on now since it destroys the ramp.
