I have a 2 stroke model 1075y12an sn# OT616637 that was setting for a few years and would not keep running and ran poorly. If the enricher button was pushed it would keep running but not very well.
At this point the 3 carbs were rebuilt and it did not help, I was told that because I had used carb cleaner on the carbs that there is a coating the was damaged and the carbs needed to be replaced.
I took off the carbs and had them cleaned by a shop with the ultrasound or whatever you call it and despite me telling them about the carb cleaner warning they ran an entire can of carb cleaner through it. When started it idled for a few seconds and then started to die so I got the enricher and it still did not keep running for more than a few seconds.
Wondering if there is a fuel pump issue or something else missed here?

If you need to keep pushing the enricher then your engine is not gettin fuel. No matter how many times you rebuild the caebs, they need fuel to work....Whether fuel pump, clogged filter, clogged hose, your not getting fuel to the carbs

Carb cleaner is fine for carbs, at least the aluminum part of them. It may (may) harm some of the plastic pieces.

If the shop that cleaned the carbs was trustworthy, they should be clean. Did they (or you) replace the inlet needle, seat, float and gaskets? That is a normal part of the rebuild process on most Merc Carbs. Was the float height set? Has the motor had a link and synch done on it?

Yep....just cleaning rarely works well, a full rebuild is always better, new gaskets, seat, float adjustment and a good rebuild kit will also give you the proper specs to set the carbs to..
