engine temp running a little hot

Hello I have a 1995 mercruiser 5.7 alpha one 2nd gen out drive. Today I tooke the boat out for a ride first time for the season and at idle my engine temp is normal at 150 when I got her up to 3500 rpm the temp went up to 200 so I back it down and the temp drop back down I notice if I ran at 2900 rpm the temp would stay at 150 but if i ran above 2900 rpm it would rise. can you help with any ideas on what could be the problem.

When was the last time the impeller was replaced?

Hi Don
I am Sorry I did not reply sooner but have been very busy. I changed the impeller this week end and that was all she needed.
