Welcome to iboats sumfun.....

The temp sender for gauges are usually an add on device to the motor. Look on the heads for a bolt on thermocouple. The gauge would wire to this.

Keep us posted....thanks.

Re: Engine Temp gage on evinrude 115

hello
the 84 115 did not have a threaded spot for the themocouple or temp sender in the cyl head. it should be an aluminium bracket with a sender bolted to the head. if you have no 1/8th or so thick l shaped brackets bolted to a head then odds are its missing. have you ever seen the temp gauge work? is it left over from a previous engine?
if I were to chose a gauge for a V outboard it would be water pressure. with 2 banks to clog its 50/50 on if the one that melts down is gonna be the one that the sender is on.
my personal experience and observation is a temp gauge on an outboard is a waste of dash space and cool refreshing beverage money.
if your worried then remove and test the alarm temp switches and test the alarm every 30 days or better make sure you have the self test horn installed.
good luck and keep posting
