Hi all

I have a late 70's 20' Glastron with a Mercruiser 165 (Chevy 250 straight 6 engine) - I'm pretty sure the motor needs to be swapped out, and I have been told that a chevy 4.3 (V6) will bolt right in...I do have a 6 cyl Nissan (3.0 litre) on hand - any ideas from anyone if this could work?

With enough money it could work. (thousands)

It would just be more than buying a new engine and drive.

You'll need to either rebuild the current engine or swap it out for the V-6 which will work but you may not have the right ratio drive for it. You also will need another Bell housing, inner transom plate, Y-pipe, manifolds, risers, and possibly a different gimbal depending on what year you have.....

So yes you can swap it if you plan on swapping EVERYTHING else...

Never seen a 3.0 Nissan marine engine. The 4.3 would be a good swap if you have the room. 4.3 has side motor mounts unlike the front mounting horn on your straight 6. Different exhaust too. Gear ratio on your drive is probably 1:65:1.
