Re: Engine start rotation binding.

Spenceror

Your compression is perfectly normal. I have been working on three of these engines, rebuild one. My own 35Hp has 113 on both cold, the 25 i am working on 125 on both, cold. This cant be your problem. Looking through carb with throttle and choke WO you can see reedplade and holes to leaves - no plastic. Try to disassemple carbureator, intake manifold and reedplate as schematis says - something must be wrong. It is a smaller operation, if you are carefull, you wount even need gaskets. If leaves are broken ( never seen by me ) you will damage cylinders and pistons be keep trying, but if they were, i dont think you could make it pass TDP anyway. Looking foreward to hear news !

Re: Engine start rotation binding.

Just finished pulling the reed plate off, it was mounted correctly, countersunk screw in hole holding it was facing in the right direction. For a 20 year old engine it looks brand new. Reeds spotlessly clean, stainless (no corrosion), all are sealing properly with none bent. Turning flywheel with plugs in by hand may be little easier but I can hear a lot of air escaping past rings with compression of both dry cylinders (no carb or reed assembly installed. After about a minute compression is gone. With gas and oil mix the compression was about 115 to 125 on each cylinder. The next inspection may be the exhaust ports for possible blockage.
Thanks for all the suggestions,
Spenceror
