my mercruiser 5.8 (GM) runs well up to 2200 rpm but flutters and stalls before reaching 2500. normal cruising rpm is 3200. replaced dist cap, sensor, cleaned carb and spark arrester. switched coils and "brain" from other engine with no result. manifold is cool up to 2000 but heats up quickly after that.
didn't replace wires. thanks for any suggestions.
PS: also replaced fuel filter

Re: engine stalling at high rpm under load

Welcome aboard vmann!

Fill us in with some more details please . . . some confusing stuff up there. No GM 5.8 (5.7 prolly, or Ford). Carb and "brain" in the same sentence don't compute (pun intended), define "stall". Does it die, as in quits running? Or does it stop gaining RPM but still runs. You say "other engine" does this boat have twins?
