Engine Rateling after coupler & impeller change--- need good advise

Dear Forum,

I need some help. I have a 97 Searay 200 SBC 5.7L and changed my coupler. The replacement coupler came with 3 new bolts & 3 Triangle plates and no spring washers.

So I took the old washers and assembled them. The new bolts had a type of washer integrated but it was not a spring type like the OEM Style.

After I had everything assembled I did a impeller change and an Z drive to Engine alignment.

Can it be that the 1.5mm height increase on the spring washer is rubbing on the bell housing and casing noise.
Who can help and who can check for me how much clearance I have between bolt head and bell housing

I have a Mercruiser Alpha one Gen 2 drive.

Thank you folks so much if you can help here. Attache some pictures.

Look like I cannot upload pictures

I have added some pictures as a link.

You should have put the coupler on with the new hardware it came with and ONLY the hardware it came with. No split washers. The new bolts have locktite on them and are all that;s needed. Did it come with the rubber snubbers or did you use your old ones? They should be on there too. Alignment good?

To check clearance you can use modeling clay. Put a butter pattie size piece over the bolt heads and install the bell housing and remove it and measure the thickness of the clay.

Yes it cam with new rubber snubbers.
Alignment was checked with special tool.

The new bolts did not came with locktite on it. And that why I used the split washers. I cannot make a modelling clay to check the distance. Everything is assembled. An I am not sure if this is the root case. Maybe a nice guy in the forum can check this for me on an engine which is not in the boat.
