. Thanks for the reply. Another quick question, maybe a dumb question? but is there a recommended way to cleanup the lower unit pump after filling up the lower unit? I mean, if I don't clean it out, won't the viscosity of the oil eat up the hose and plastics?

Viscosity is a term used to describe thickness of the oil or it's ability to flow is it not ?------------Nothing to do with munching hoses I believe.

Are you talking about the pump you use to fill the lower end?
If so, then do nothing. It will be fine.

Thanks to everyone for their help. Much appreciated. It lloks like the shift shaft seals did the trick so far. This all started when I trimmed engine up all the way to the lock latch. So I have another question. Should the engine be all the way up during transportation and when on trailer parked? I can't see to fine a good anwser. Anybody? Thanks again

Up during transportation...reason being you don't want the skeg banging on the pavement as you go down the road. Another reason is with the motor up, it places the weight of the motor directly over the transom at its strongest point.

While parked, with the motor down, the water will drain out of it. As to keeping it up or down during the season, it doesn't matter. The only time it does matter is storing it down for the winter.

Thanks for reply. Up enough to clear the skeg or do I need to trim it up all the way to the lock latch during transportation?

All the way up...it takes the stress off the transom.

I have heard that all the way up puts more stress on the transom as the engine bounces around during trailoring. Does that make sense? Also, do I leave it up when it's parked on the trailor? I am in Florida so there really isn't a wintirize here, basically use it year around:)
