I may have used incorrect wording in the title but I can explain it here.

1996 Wellcraft Excel Outboard

The trim button on the throttle and the engine are both unresponsive in moving the actual engine.

The fuses all read good. The gauges read good, The engine starts fine.

Just not sure where to start when it comes to diagnosing this problem. I have not tested the line for power yet but plan to do so. However the buttons being in two separate locations are most likely not on the same line.

Any advice or things I should try will be greatly appreciated and done.

Thanks Iboat members !

Re: Engine not trimming up or down.

Follow the wiring harness from the TNT motor up into the engine compartment. It should lead you to a plug in connector. Disconnect connector and using a test light, see if you have power across the two leads of the connector on the boat side of the plug when trying to tilt. If you have power, look to the TNT motor. If no power, look to the relays, related wiring and connections.

Give the t/t mtr a few raps with a small hammer and try it. May have a stuck brush.

Also tap the relays they too may stick. Also clean their contacts.

it's either a power problem or a relay problem. check for continuity.
