Finally got cooperation from the weather and got my rebuild started:

:Now time to replace the mounts in the boat.
Started by tracing what I could from the original mounts.
Planning on frilling oversized holes where the original lag bolts were, inserting a pc of t
"tool handle" (not pine) and using 3M 5200 to install.

Any/all suggestions welcome.
Boat is 34 years old..........not looking to get into major glass work here.

Will post pics tomorrow.

Ayuh,..... I suggested an ole shovel handle, because production "Dowels" are Birch,.....
'n Birch rots the fastest of all the various Woods I've ever worked with,.....

I believe "Tool Handles", atleast those made in America are white ash, or oak,.....

FYI........the "Tool Handle" I picked-up looks like a nice sturdy broom handle..........definitely not pine.
Plan on drilling a 1" hole and inserting the handle w/ 5200.

Removed rear engine mount bushings........see pics below.
Install instructions are confusing........
1st question: which is top/bottom of new bushing? Instructions say thr side w/ grooves.
Fiber washers and spring washers no longer needed?

I Need clarification!!

This is the wood I have chosen to plug my engine mounting holes in the front mounts.

Looks like a nice tight grain........plane on drilling holes soon!!

Having trouble inserting the rear mounts in the flywheel cover.
Only attempted 1 so far, can't get to go the last 1/16 of an inch..........I assume this is a problem or can I leave with it and adjust the alignment as needed?

I took Bondo's advice and drilled 1" holes in the mount "bosses" and inserted the tool handle with 5200.
Tonight I cut them flush.........looks like a good idea.........thanks again Bondo.
