Hello I inherited a Bayliner capri and I am trying to find out the engine type/model so I can order a repair manuel and parts for it I think I know what kind it is but I just wanted to confirm it with someone of greater knowledge. So far the markings are as follows below.
Serial number on side of engine plate is:L062212
It says alpha on the top of the motor also and the carb filter lid reads:
Drive serial number:0L123659
Transom serial number:0L259022
Engine serial number:0L062212
From what I have researched I believe that the boat is a 1998 Bayliner capri sterndrive with mercruiser 5.0LV8 not sure what the mcm5.0 liter stands for on the model also don't know the model type number of the boat ill attach some pictures also any help is very appreciated.

marine engine"dot"com is a great resource for getting part numbers for engine parts using the serial number of the engine or drives. I've used them numerous times for getting part numbers, then used those part numbers to get the best price, **hint** iBoats. You can also cross reference the factory repair manual there. Stay away from the SELOC manuals in my opinion.

0L062212 comes up as an MERCRUISER 5.0L ALPHA (GEN +) Model number 4M11025LS.... MCM = Mercruiser Marine.

Mercruiser engine service manual is hard to find right now to "buy" online but it's Merc part number 90-861327T01.

For the stern drive search online 'Mercruiser service manual number 14' and a few ought to come up.

0L123659 = ALPHA One (GEN.II) Stern Drive, Model Number 5121300LS with a 1.62:1 Gear Raito.

Here's your engine parts catalog,

^, For the Stern Drive and/or Transom Assembly parts catalogs, just input the serial numbers in the upper right hand side search box in the link above.

Being an 1998, boat, those serial numbers are within the same year range.

first, welcome aboard

regarding your 1998 boat. the MCM stands for Mercruiser Marine
the 5.0 means your motor is a 5.0 liter V8

about 220hp

now, being a 1998 Bayliner. you will want to seriously look for rot in the stringers, transom and deck. bayliner boats in the 80's and 90's were not that stellar of quality

the floor is the LAST thing to rot on a boat. if you have to replace the floor, you need to pull the drive and motor, then do a gut-n-restore
