Engine dies under load

Hello all,

Went through and did the annual maintenance. Got the boat out this past Saturday and from the first startup to getting to the last fishing spot, the engine worked wonderful.
However after calling it a day, crank the engine, starts and idles fine. Go to accelerate, engine dies. After a few times of starting and dying, we find out the boat can move while sitting back and continuously pumping the fuel ball pump.
Finally get the air shroud off to expose the carbs and press the fuel pump to see if any leaks occur, I get some fuel coming out of one of the carbs after a few pumps, fuel ball not stiff yet.

Anyone have any ideas? Basically rebuild the carb and float assembly?

if hand pumping helps sounds like a bad fuel pump

+ hand pump not getting hard it may indicate a inlet needle not closing properly and flooding the carb face.... maybe just a spect of dirt in the carb

Does anyone recommend any troubleshooting ideas to help me determine one or the other?
And the fuel pump is a VR02 oil injected pump that has had the oil line cut and capped. Do I need to get a VRO2 fuel pump or is a non VRO2 pump better for reliability?

2 different problems. No shortcuts unfortunately.

Fuel pumps both have the same reliability...your vro probably just needs a new diaphragm and a oring or two.
