Hey snarldog, Sounds to me like it may be time for carb cleaning.Other possibilities may be restricted fuel filter or failing fuel pump.<br />If you remove spark plug leads and disconnect fuel inlet hose to carbs you can crank engine over and discharge fuel into clear container to test fuel pump and verify filter is clear. If you are not familiar with carburetor removal and service I recommend obtaining a factory manual specific to your engine to use as a guide.

Had an older 40HP johnson that would run good from low to mid RPM good but would die after a few minutes at 3/4 to full throttle. Found the problem to be the water pump was not pumping enough to cool engine at higher RPM. Let it cool for awhile and it would start again! Make sure the water pump is pumping good.

I know you stated you had fuel to carb(s) & this is a long shot but did you have the vent on the gas tank open (assuming you have one).

Re: engine died after running about 15 minutes

My Merc60 6hp dis the same thing after I rebuilt the carburetor and fuel pump. I had the motor running what I thought to be "prefect" until I brought it to the lake. After running for 5 minutes getting out of the no wake zone, I gunned it and as soon as I reached top speed it died and was real hard to start back up. I took the cover off and had it running and saw that the hose connecting from the crankcase to the fuel pump was spitting and then the engine would die. I hate to knock on Autozone for they always give me the best service but the guy there sold me the brass fittings and new hose to replace all of the fuel hoses. Well the dang brass fittings didn't fit the hose snug enough and was leaking. I later put a zip tie aroung all of the hoses and that has fixed it. I know that when I took the carb out of the engine I damaged the hoses and had to replace. Pull off the hoses and plug one end and blow through it to see if it has a leak.

If you have a fuel/water seperator, check it to see if its full. If you don't have one, mabey its time to install one.
