ENGINE COVER

My Bayliner Engine cover need replacing <br />I'm going to build a new one<br />Can someone tell me what is the material on the inside of the cover (black spongy material)<br />Is it fire retardent or sound insulation ??

I would think Quality Heat Shield (tm) would work good, but being around water, I don't know what you would need to do to make it waterproof.

Thank you for your reply <br />I don't think that waterproofing is an isue on that part of the boat <br />I was thinking of using a under hood car blanket,<br />but I don't know if these are used for fire or sound ??

I think the foam is mainly for sound insulation. Of course any foam used in an engine compartment should be fire retardant. Remember the night club in Rhode Island. Marine retailers sell it.
