Engine alarm 1 beep every 60 seconds

i have a 2010 mercruiser 6.2l. I thought I had an electrical problem low voltage at idle. I replaced both batteries, the alternator. Then I realized I had a bad IAC valve giving a low voltage at idle and running rough while at idle. After replacing the IAC I get an alarm beep 1 every minute. I cleaned the o2 sensors and still get the beep I am in need of advice

Being a 2010 you should have a 555 PCM, and its also should be a catalyst motor (mentioned O2 sensor). There is no single beep every minute, but could be an intermittent continuous beep which would be the drive lube bottle (stern drive) or transmission overheat (inboard)

Might be what is called a soft warning which something is on the edge of failing. The motor needs to be scanned and providing serial numbers is always best

Serial number is 1a614374. The beep is exactly 1 a minute as we age used a stop watch on phone to time it

Thanks, that is a cat motor and I need some better info on latest codes. The number one failure item prior use to be the water pressure sensor, and I'm sure its still in there somewhere, but unable to find anything newer on the cat models.

Maybe someone else has more info, but think your going to need the motor scanned

In more research, might be the drive lube bottle (if sterndrive) or trans overheat (if inboard), or battery is weak. Shut the motor off, let it sit an hour or so and check the reading, should be 12.4 to 12.7V

Batteries are new. I have 12.6. Drive lube bottle in between add and full starts right up idles good runs good

Being a 2010 the engine will have a PCM-09 model as the ECM designed changed in 2009 in order to use with mercruiser's catalyst exhaust system.

Do you have any type of smart craft gauges that read information connected? Or maybe mercruiser's mobile vessel view system which both helps show faults being listed....Without having a service manual that also lists the fault code numbers for your engine and some sort of indication from an informational gauge source, marine scan tool, etc., The one beep you're hearing could be any high number of issues these engines are monitoring.

As Fun Times mentions the one beep a minute can be caused by many things. If you look in your owners manual it may list what items.

But the trouble with trying to diagnosis this warning that way is pretty tough. I quoted your comment about the lube level to try to make my point.
Even though the bottle is full doesn't matter at this point because what matters is what the PCM thinks the level is in the bottle. And if the sensor or wiring is bad, the PCM could read that as a problem. And set the horn.

The lube monitor is one of the easiest circuits to diagnosis. But you could spend hours and hours checking all the possible circuits only to find out that a diagnostic program is required.

P.S. Your engine has an open recall from 2010 that should be addressed. ---- 2010-11R2

I determined the IAC problem from talking to the local service advisor he couldn't get the boat in for 3 weeks and asked if It had any oily substance coming out the back I ordered the mercury vessel view so I will see what it says Wed

Thanks for the reply. I was curious how a low voltage problem would be caused by the IAC. But it sounds like a different symptom got you there.

Vessel view is is a nice option, but only functions as a code reader for diagnostic work. Hopefully that will be enough for this problem. Just so you understand, it won’t give you the information that a scan tool will.

Please get your shift cable checked out per the service bulletin. And if you bought this used or have moved, get your info updated with Mercury.

I just got mercury VesselView and my alarm is an engine misfire. Any idea where to go from here

A scan tool will tell you what cylinder or cylinders are miss firing.

Without a scan tool my best guess is, do a compression test, replace spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, spark plug wires and send out injectors for cleaning and testing. In that order. If you do send out the injectors, make sure you send them to someone who will give before and after test results. Otherwise you will get somebody who uses a 9 volt battery and a can of spray cleaner. This is very important (I’ve been burned by one of those places).

The trouble with a miss fire code is, if you keep running it with a miss fire the cats can burn out and that gets real expensive.

I have already done all the above and the Vessel view is giving me the same codes (engine misfire. but I actually noticed that even when the engine is not even started and the ignition key is ON, the same 1 beep every 60 seconds still occurs.
