Re: End of season???

Apparently Bwana it gets a little breezy out there. Check out this wind sock by Lake Hattie.

Thats no lie! I almost flipped a 12 foot fiberglass rowboat when the outboard quite. We drove the trailer around the lake and loaded the boat. Scared the poop out of me. I thought the wind was going to flip us, the boat turned sidewys when the motor stalled.

The wind in Wyoming is pretty bad. I'd be walking across the parking lot at the Airbase, if I was on an ice patch the wind would push me back.

Re: End of season???

Jealous? I'm going fishing tomorrow, it's 55 degrees here. In about 6-7 weeks I'll have the last laugh, I won't even need a boat. Just a heater, ice auger, funny looking little poles, shanty, old grandad, big awkward boots, mitten gloves..........

Crap, no matter how I spin this, tuna fishing in Florida sounds pretty good right now. Damn you Kev, at least post some pictures. Let's go get him jas, grab HSF and let's track CBK down. We'll force him to drink Corona's and marlin fish with us. We'll get Broadcast too, in case he needs trolling lessons.

Re: End of season???

fishing reports from San Carlos yesterday:

We had 10 yellowtail and 5 big bonita in the chest by 9:30! Huge boils and acres of baitfish, with sailfish and dorado in the middle of the yellowtail. Most of the fish were in 80-120 feet of water, and less than 1/2 mile from the point. Got one YT trolling an Xrap 30, and all the rest were on The Iron
.the pink/gold Turkey Slider got 6 fish.....

Also caught this week on the neighbors boats were a 50 plus lb plus wahoo, a 450 to 500 lb marlin, as well as 2 bull dorado over 35 lbs. and last week 4 25 to 30 lb tuna, It's a San Carlos x-mas

We saw 4 sails off San Antonio , SS Reef, and the UFO, as well as multiple dorado in the bait boils. One spot of bait was over an acre of boiling fish.....All our YT were in 75-76 degree water! Were were landing YT and the boat next to us was gaffing a dorado.

It was a great morning with rays leaping out of te waer, bait being chased all over the place by bonita, dorado and yellowtail...a few sails mixed in!!

i can hardly wait for TGVG trip.....unfortunately won't have the SC ready.

Re: End of season???

Barato that fishing report reminds me that I need to fish the ocean one of these days so I can really appreciate the diversity out there.:D

Got my adrenalin pumping reading about baitfish boils. We have been lacking in baitfish ever since the zebra mussel and round goby invaded the great lakes.:(

Unless, of course, you cheat...right HA?

LOL :D Yeah, well as I keep explaining to folks, you have to make sure the boat can catch fish before you go thru the ordeal of flipping and painting the hull.

Besides, if you hadn't given up on the Starchief you'd have been catching fish for several months now and you could get rid of the heathen(the glasser).:D

Re: End of season???

Its not a problem Mike. I included myself in that remark..lol. The glasstream has served her purpose and held on long enough for me to do the Offshore.:p I will NOT rebuild her as I have had that pleasure on my very first glasstream. Once was enough and thats why I now am a Tin man.

Wonder how the Starchief is doing..the new owner said he was turning it into a CC.

Re: End of season???

by way of full disclosure, that fishing report wasn't mine. :( posted by a friend who keeps his boat down there and has the nickname "Iron Man" cuz he's the master of deep jigging.

but i can dream.......
