EMM High Voltage Problem

I have a 2003 Evinrude 175 and recently I had a check engine alarm informing of a battery above voltage range problem. Do I need to change the EMM part or if I have another way to repair it?

Thanks for your help.

Re: EMM High Voltage Problem

What is the voltage across the battery posts when using a voltmeter?(tells how accurate gauge is). How well does it crank over? (bad ground or pos. connection will allow high charge voltage)

Re: EMM High Voltage Problem

Thanks for your reply.

I'm getting between 15 to 16 volts with high RPMs (gauge is accurate). It cranks over normally.

Do you think it could be a faulty EMM? This problem came after I had a check engine of a high EMM temp due to a problem with water flow of the cooling system. The temp did not go very high but it was enough to give this check engine.

Thanks for your help/

Re: EMM High Voltage Problem

An EMM overheat stresses all the electronic components inside the housing. Since the regulator and the rectifiers for both the battery charging system and the 40 volt operational system are inside the EMM, chances are it will have to be repaired or replaced.

BRP, through your dealer, has both a new and a rebuilt exchange program for the EMM. A company also repairs them and they can be reached at dfitechnologies.com
