1979 mariner 90hp magnetic chock stoped working, the wire is hot, i mean has power when switch is on and i push chock button at controls, but nothing else happens. Where to fing part #, so for now i have made a string to pull chock.
Check voltage as close to the choke solenoid as possible. One of those $2.00 light testers with the sharp pointed probe is good for this. Connect the ground to the solenoid body and this will test your ground as well. If you have voltage to it there, you will need to check the resistance of the solenoid coil. Not sure what it should be but will guess in the 10 to 100 ohm range. If it reads wide open or 0 ohms it is bad.
