Chapparal 204 SSI 4.3 GXI E engine, now have an alarm that will not stop (replaced the alarm and an oil pressure sensor, all guages are normal and working) Now new issue have found that my new Boss radio amp continously blows 15 amp fuses.....
the only thing that happened before this all started was that I installed a 2 bank battery charger in the boat.

Could these things be related... For now I have had to unplug the alarm to use the boat and watch the guages, and am planning to replace the radio unless anyone else has any suggestions.

I am pretty good at boat work but not a certified electrician.

Thanks

If all your problems started after a change....
Revert back to known working condition.....
Just temp, not undoing work. See if problem persists. If it goes away try to figure out what's wrong with your bat install. If it is still there, fix problem then work foward again

Okay here's what I have I tried disconnecting the battery charger didn't change the alarm situation. Inline fuse for the radio is on the yellow battery wire there is also a red ignition wire going into the radio. Whenever the battery switch is in the on position the inline fuse blows on the yellow battery wire immediately even with the ignition switch off if I disconnect the radio by the plug and then change out the fuse plug it in switch the battery on then the fuse blows immediately. Thank you for your ideas for next step to troubleshoot

Check to make sure the red and yellow wires are connected correctly. I’ve seen documents that swapped the yellow and red wires before.

Disconnect power from radio. If it stops the fuse from blowing, it’s the radio. If the fuse still blows, you have a short somewhere in the wire

I think the wires are connected correctly because the radio was working before I left the boat alone for a couple of months... I'm going to try the other thing that you say that makes perfect sense thank you I'll let you know what I find

Determine everything downstream of the fuse and unplug/disconnect every device.
New fuse.
Wiggle n jiggle all the wires, if fuse blows u got a wiring issue.
If not add each device until fuse pops. Replace device that popped fuse.
