Electrical Diagram in Service Manual doesn't match the stator wiring

Has anyone noticed that the Mercury service manual wiring diagram doesn't match the OEM Mercury stator? I'm installing one in a 1986 90hp 6 cyl outboard. The new stator (398-5454-A18) has the yellow sleeve around the blue/white and red/white striped wires, but the schematic shows the yellow sleeve around the red and blue solid wires. The schematic indicates that the striped wires connect to the top (odd) switch box.

So which is right? Striped top or bottom? Does is even matter?

It dont matter as long as those are paired together and go it the same switchbox with matching trigger wires

Trigger wires are the same color in pairs, the only difference being the yellow sleeve, so nothing but the sleeve to match up with.

The old one was hooked up with trigger and stator 'yellow sleeves' to the bottom switch box, so I'll do that again. I just hate irregularities in service manuals!
