electric shift tilt unit

I have rebuilt the whole tilt unit and replaced the motor. but not the wiring yet. I wanted to see if it was working so I hooked up a remote push button starter wire... so it goes up kinda fast and down really fast and slammed in place! is this normal?? Thanks Bruce

It should go up moderately quick ... shouldn't really fly up. Going down, it will kinda' move on you. Typically the trick is to tap the tilt switch so it doesn't slam down.

Tell me about it. That thing just sits WAY too close to the bilge.
