Hello. I am having a problem with a Johnson 125esl71c. I can get it to go in forward but only if I rev the engine and then it slams into gear and shifts in and out of gear for a little while then is fine until I take it out of gear again. Also when I shift into reverse it just doesn't act like it is shifting although the moves backwards (rather slowly). Is this a problem with my hydraulic pump? I have Citgo Premium Gear lube and it says on the outside of the bottle for type "c" applications. Is this the wrong gear lube. The hydraulic pump is the only thing that I can think of. This engine sat for at least 5 years without being in the water. Thank you for any help.
