Re: electric problem for the pro's!

Schematic. Yamaha doesnt use a digital signal - at least on my year and model. ITs all done with wiring harnesses and a oil control box that has some relays. I just got done studying the schematic for the engines and yes there are diodes shown in the system. Called the dealer and they said that the diodes are inside the wiring harness someplace......Guess I am going out to find those things and then test them each with a meter....will let you know what I find. I still think we were all on the right track with a bad diode someplace allowing crosstalk.

Last post on this was 1/7. Problem solved??? I've had similar problems with my Yamaha oil sys. May be able to help. Would be interested in resolution, if any.

Still working on the problem. I have inspected all the wiring harnesses. Found no diodes. Have swapped the switch control box which aparantly has a comparator inside that when one engine shuts down will also slow good engine so you dont get big yaw. Didnt fix the problem. Not sure where to go and would love any hints or advice you might be able to lend if you had the same problem and got yours solved. You can always email me at pthein@yahoo.com

Havent been able to scan or draw the thing. Its pretty complex with all the wires and systems. I did talk with the yamaha rep today and they told me that Yamaha uses a negative trigger wire for the pumps. I am going to be checking the float systems and the wiring for grounds........Would love to hear what CF094's similar problem/symptoms were and how he fixed it!!

Re: electric problem for the pro's!

problem turned out to be bad oil control unit backfeeding. Must have had a bad ground inside the sealed unit. The dealer and Yamaha were very suprised. They said usually the units just stop working, never backffed like this.....chalk it up to new experience - and $$$$$
