Hello everyone, I have a 1992 Yamaha outboard with the 703 controls.

I bought this secondhand and found most of the electronics and worked them out. However, the key start will not work. I’ve checked the 10 pin harness and it looks to be in good shape, I hook the battery up to the motor and nothing, but when the motor starts manually all the electronics and kill switch etc all work. Any ideas on why the electric key start wouldn’t? The starter itself appears to be in good shape as well.

Take the factory manual with the factory wiring diagram for the motor and controls, use a digital volt meter and find where the issue is

The only diagrams I’ve found don’t really have a lot of help, they aren’t labeled or anything. Plus if the 10 pin is connected and a better is connected shouldn’t that theoretically work

You have the factory manual? If so, everything is labeled
