eBay Auction Sniping

I have been using BayGenie to snipe eBay auctions, but sometimes the program hangs up.

Have noticed that Baygenie now (at leat for the short term), offers free web-based auction sniping. Other free sniping sites, such as Gixen.com and SnipeStreet.com, seems to get good reviews.

Anyone using sniping sites or software, that can comment on the good, bad, ugly? Free is better, if it works, but will pay also.

I used a couple before.I think it was bidnapper. I got my boat using it.
It bid with about 3 seconds to go. Not bad for a free trial program.

Re: eBay Auction Sniping

I've been using auctionsniper.com for years. It's web based, and just seems to get better.

Cost is 1% up to a very reasonable max, .25 minimum, only on auctions won.

Sometimes if it's a commodity item, I'll set up a group with about 15 entries bid real low. If one happens to go low, I get it., then the rest are cancelled.

What it does is outsmart the amateurs that watch the bid, and try to just outbid it at the last minute. The snipe comes in so close to the end they can't beat it.

The other thing it does is takes the emotional part out of the equation for you. You decide the max you will spend on an item, and it'll do it's best to get it for you. You aren't even there.

hope it helps

What fun is that? The fun is in sweating and seeing if you get it!

I've used auctionstealer for about 6 years now. Always satisfied with how it works-even when I don't win an item.
Best part - it's free as long as you can be content with a 10 second snipe.

I've also tried justsnipe. That one let me down about 20% of the time so it's outta here!

I do it manually within the last few seconds. I will just always bid the most I am willing to pay. If I don't win then I have lost nothing as I wouldn't be willing to pay any more anyway!

I've used esnipe since 2003 and have never been disappointed. I only use it if I REALLY want something and I am going to be away while it ends. You have to pay for it, but it's worth it to me. I haven't looked into the other options mentioned.

I consider sniping unsportsmanlike.

Agree with JB. Mrs Ken does all our "last second bidding" and has a great success rate.

Re: eBay Auction Sniping

Sniping is a way of dealing with two types of people. Those who put in low ball bids in the hopes of getting something cheap and when outbid earlier, enter a few counter bids to test how high their competitor was willing to go, and those who absolutely have to win no matter the price. The bid in the last few seconds prevents these types from entering a counter bid. If they didn't enter their max earlier, shame on them...

Personally, I have sniped many times, but never with a tool. I've won some and lost more. When I snipe I enter the maximum price I'm willing to pay in the last few seconds of the auction. If someone beats me it's no big deal because the item was obviously worth more to them than it was to me.

Esnipe since about 2005. I don't use it very often, pretty high success rate.

I agree about keeping emotion out of it and keeping the price reasonable.

esnipe.com

Been using them for years since they first started.

And how is it unsportsmanlike? I just put in the price I want it at and if no one wants it a higher price, they don't get it. I just don't let them have a second chance to think about rebidding.

Just bought something tonight with it.

Re: eBay Auction Sniping

Ebay is damn annoying really. I hate as a seller having to wait 6 days, 59 minutes and 50 seconds to see what kind of price an auction item is going to get.

Imagine the chaos if an auction time could end say +-2 hours of the stated time, or, if there was a setting that any bids came in at the last 10 second it extended the auction by 2 hrs.

That would be so funny, and would mean that all these snipes wouldn't work, and those willing to pay more would have the time to do so...

That would be a great idea...

On the one hand you're complaining about having to wait a week for your item to sell and on the other you're advocating a change that could extend the auction indefinitely?:confused::confused:

People "willing to pay more" already have a week to do so. It's not the snipers fault if others fail to bid their max.

Re: eBay Auction Sniping

Ahhh, that explains why I always get out bid at the last second. Those that use sniper programs should be ashamed. That being said I will try one now. :D
