Easy way to remove carpet from aluminum deck?

I have a 1988, 24ft pontoon boat that has carpet glued onto the aluminum deck. It's getting worn and I would like to remove it. I've seen a video where someone was scraping it off, but it was very labor and time intense. Anybody have experience doing this and the best way to remove it? Thanks much

As rotted as the surface is the base is stubborn, perhaps a big wire wheel will make it easier. or you could do it like old time shingles and add another layer of carpet over the top.

heat gun and a sharp metal paint scraper.

dont forget the elbow grease.

Grab the edge and pull off what you can. Most of the time the mastic is weaker than the carpet base and most of it comes off. Then heat and scrape is in order. There should be a solvent for any residual mastic, likely mineral spirits.

the easiest way is to pay someone else to remove it.

Yes, it was an optional upgrade back in the late 80's when the boat was purchased. I'm the 2nd owner and have the original purchase paperwork. The aluminum deck cost an additional $1,000 at that time. Below is a link to a houseboat build that has the same deck.
