Hi! My 1994 Evi 175 suddenly started refusing to increase RPM's over idle in forward. She does OK in reverse and she revs up fine in neutral. She runs in forward at idle speed. What is goin' on here???

Thanks, but no...the throttle cables are intact. Its almost like it can't run under a load - but only in Forward.

What does the engine do when throttled up in fwd gear? Does it sputter and die? Bog down? Or just nothing happens all?

Can you confirm the drive is going fully into fwd gear...Disconnect the shift cable on the engine side and manual shift it into gear....If the problem persist may be time to drop the oil in the leg and look for metal shavings...possible the gear or clutch teeth have stripped out...

Spark test and compression test are in order. Are the butterflies opening all the way. Check the nut on the throttle cable make sure it's not stripped. Revving in neutral and reverse mean nothing, in reverse the prop cavitates so it's like running in neutral.

^^agree. Add that that it's not a good idea to rev in neutral. It's a good idea to disconnect remote cables at the motor, and test operation at the motor (rule out cable or control box issues).
