Good morning. Looking to purchase a lower unit seal kit for my engine model listed above. Want to make sure I order the correct one. When I google the engine type this is what comes up. Will this work?

Sierra #18-2684 Lower Unit Seal Kit

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Rule of thumb here is buy OEM when it's available.

Pretty sure you will only need a few simple parts.

Crosbyman will come along shortly and give you a nice color coded parts breakdown of what you need.

He has one and I'm pretty sure he got married to it!🤓

Buying individual seals for this motor adds up.----Do not restrict your search to a 1982 model.-----Lower units kit is common for all years of the 9.9 / 15 HP.-----About $46.99 list price for correct kit.----Fits from 2005 down to 1980 models.----Your local dealer will help you find this correct kit.----You do support your local dealer I hope.

Nice to see your still around racerone. It’s been years since I’ve posted here. Yes I will reach out to my local evinrude dealer about this to make sure I get the correct kit.

Having a good relationship with a local dealer is like collecting gold. “Priceless”
They are few are far between these days but there will only be less if people don’t support them and any other small businesses for that matter.

I know of one shop that is now at $175 / hr ( Canadian funds ) and busy.-----I know of one dealer that has been told by other shops to charge more.----Refuses to do so and is also busy.

don't forget 15% GST and Prov. taxes here it adds up to $190 hr.
asking competitors to agree on raise prices also known as collusion....:-(
aka price fixing.
one local shop wanted $375 (plus 15% taxes) for fixing 2 inches of broken keel ... JB weld $10
not perfect but ETEC blue will finish the job :)

unfortunately the business world is moving further down the road with Pareto's principal

The Pareto principle (also known as the 80/20 rule) states that 80% of consequences come from 20% of actions – and for many thought leaders, this is becoming a way to prioritize tasks and enhance productivity.

in other words....
20% of customers generate 80% business revenues the other 80% can wait :-(

Local dealers here are $195 to $250 per hour. I'm lucky because Seaway Marine is right up the street and I know the family who owns it.

By the way, they are not a boneyard even though it says that in the information above all these posts.

Pretty sure they have the largest stock world wide.

Buy the kit or get the individual parts....no matter to me.

Have a great Sunday, "the day for rest"!
