E-tec blew

My buddies 225 e-tec blew sunday<wasnt doing nothing just got on plane and lost rpms no lights came on tryed to start it and it was locked up,got it back on traler and there was peices of metel coming out of exhaust looks like the bottom of a piston,he,s calling bombarder to look at it.is anybody out there heard of any troubles like this out of the e-tec i have a couple of friends wanting to buy them this spring?

bummer<br /> would be nice to see if any codes had been set and how it was set up. so far the etec has seemed to be reliable. its not like the early fict or opti debacle.<br /> post seahorse the numbers , maybe he can tell us a bit about it. would be interesting.

Yea he loved it,said it drank alot of oil during break in,but after it ran great,it's on a X21 triton rigged for tourney fishing,sweet set-up,i'll let ya know what they say about it and what caused it.I dont have the serial ##

Unless he did something... It should be under warranty. The new one should already be on the way.

Ron... Jon montreal.. what oil did u use in the motor...and what was the Hp..

Its not my motor its a fishing buddies,its 225 he used the recomended oil from bombardier,i havent talked to him he was carrying it back today to the dealer.

I just talked to him,the #2 piston decengrated,no codes showed up,no signs of any overheating,there sending him a new power pack and everthing else right away,he'll be up and running by next weekend.

From my understanding there seanding him the entire motor except the lower unit.and the companys getting his to see what exactly happened.
