Re: Dwell Tach meter questions

I bought this recently http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00062YUUS/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i01
And I want to use it on 2 strokes and 4 strokes. Kinda want to use it as a tuning tool for the weed water, lawn mower, etc.
Will this work on both 4 and 2 stroke engines?
If so, where does the green(trigger) wire clip to when testing for rpms?

With my outboard, '70 chrysler magneto
it has one ignition event per cylinder.

so
8 cylinder mode:
with engine running

RPM on scale X 2 = RPM X 2 = RPM of outboard.

So If I clip it on and it reads 200 RPM, times that by 2 is 400.Then times by 2 ignition events. 800 RPM of outboard.
(200x2=400x2=800rpm)

Now my tach and dwell is 4cycle only 6 and 8 cylinder only.
