I HAVE PURCHASED USED BOAT WITH 150HP JOHNSON, WITH A 9.9 EVINRUDE KICKER. AT THIS TIME THEY ARE HOOKED TOGETHER VIA A CONNECTION ATTACHED TO THE REAR OF THE LOWER UNIT, BY WHAT LOOKS LIKE A VERY LARGE [RADIATOR TYPE CLAMP]. THIS WILL NOT WORK LONG TERM. AM HAVING PROBLEMS AS WE SPEAK.
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A PRODUCT THAT WILL MAKE A SUCURE HOOK UP, ONE MORE THING. THE ROD ATTACHMENT IS A FACTORY [NAME UNKNOWN], THAT HAS QUICK DISCONNECT ON EACH END VIA A BALL. THE RADIATOR CLAMP THING IS MY PROBLEM
THANKS STIELOW FROM KANSAS

Re: DUEL STEERING

Hi Sarg,.......

Welcome to the forums here at iboats.com...... :)

Just a couple of things,.....

Loose the "Cap-lock,...... It's not only Hard to Read,... It's considered Yelling,.....
And,... Nobody enjoys being YELLED AT............. :(

Now,........

Does it appear that the hose clamp was part of the original installation,..???......

If Not,..... Why was it Added,+ How can you change it Back to original,..???.....

The 1s I've seen are like you describe,.. Without the Hose Clamp.......

Do you have any way to post a picture of the Issue,... It would make coming up with a Workaround, Easier........

I'm Sure that there is a Creative Engineer here at iboats, who can find a Cure for your Issue............ ;)

Re: DUEL STEERING

Sorry about the caps. I just do it this way.
No, was not factory. was an after market. I have been looking at the teleflex trolling motor tie bar. What I have is a good Factory after market bar between the motors. but the Radiator clamp is not going to work as much as i am on the water.
It needs to be hook up on the front end of the motor , not on the lower unit.
I need to go out and see if I can get a name from the current tie bar. Looks almost new.
stielow

You might find that this is Impossible,.........
Due to the angles encounted while trimming,+ or tilting,+ or Turning the motors.........

There's No Reason you can't attach the motors by their lowerunits........
You've just got to get away from the hose clamp thing,...I guess.....

Just what sort of Issues is it causing Now,..???....

Re: DUEL STEERING

Thanks. Well part of the problem is no Manual.
The rod on there now is an E.Z. STEER. Found their www. They had an adjustment page. Yep. This rod was way out of adjustment. Have made the proper adjustment. Will see if that works, without tearing things up. But still think there must be something out there better. For a poor man.
Thanks everyone. I will be getting touch with E.Z. STEER on Monday. There may be some answers there.
Now, get out there and fish. sarg5

The EZ Steer works so well because of the ball joints on each end. Those address the issue that Bondo mentioned.

While somewhat unsightly, the EZ Steer has a good reputation.
