DTC 40 carb swap

Hi

I have a Suzuki DTC 40 oil injection 1984 and I have damaged the carb. I need a replacement one but they are quite rare, or expesnive in the UK. Is it feasible to fit a similar carb such as one from a 1982-1985 engine instead?

What did you damage on the carb? Have you checked here in the US, on e-bay, craigslist, here on I-boats, Amazon?

If you are sure there's no way to fix old carb, get your carb and manual and check if 1982-1985 or other years will bolt on and everything looks the same.

I've damaged one of the jet orifices trying to remove the jet. I'm still working on trying to fix it, but wouldn't a back up plan. Although the years are different serial numbers, they do look the same, so maybe I might buy a similar one and give it a go.

I thought I did try eBay, Amazon in the States, but will look again.
