DT 75 carburetor cleaning question

I have a 1989 Suzuki DT 75 that I plan on overhauling the carbs on. Here is my question. I see that I can get most of the plastic peices off except for the fuel fitting, this is where the fuel enters the carb from the pump. Is it safe to leave these on while I dip them in a carb solution? Or should I just use the spray type? I uses some B-12 Chemtool spray on one and it seemed to get the small openings cleared, but I have some white type stuff (corrosion?) in the bowl, will dipping these get that out? I enclosed a pic of the fitting.

Re: DT 75 carburetor cleaning question

I doubt the B-12 will hurt that fitting. Regarding the white stuff in bottom of float chamber, probably some corrosion from small amount of water in there at some point in time, that's why I like to drain carbs from time to time, use Stabil Marine and a fuel/water separator. A bit of vinegar and a Q-Tip or brush should remove the white stuff. Water can corrode a hole in the bottom of a float chamber, ruining the carb. Good Luck!

Re: DT 75 carburetor cleaning question

All the carbs that come to me get soaked in Gunk "Parts and Carb Cleaner". It comes in a gallon can and is referred to as a Kit. Advance Auto has it. It will not harm the plastic parts. Follow the instructions on the can. This is one of the few solutions that will soften and remove the brown shellac courtesy of our crappy gasoline.
Spray cleaners are next to useless and are intended for cleaning the outside only. They will eat plastics. I am one of the few around here that works on Suzuki's. Great motors.

Ok, sounds good. I saw the can of Gunk at Advance the other day and that is what I planned on using, thanks for the input.
